Middle School
Overview
The Middle School Strings (Orchestra) meets two or three periods per week depending on the BDF schedule. Students perform concerts and at assemblies throughout the school year. This class is for students who are in the 6th, 7th or 8th grade and are in the process of developing their musicianship and instrumental skills.
Goal
The goal of the Middle School Orchestra Program is to provide continuing development of musical skills fostered from the Elementary Strings Program. Rapid growth as well as reinforcement of individual skills is expected at the MS level.
Objectives
- Provide the foundational knowledge which may lead to more advanced music study at the High School level and beyond.
- Develop the skill and technical ability that leads to proficiency on an instrument.
- Enhance rehearsal and performance skills
- Emphasize thed technique necessary to play at more advance levels
