Audition Information:

Auditions will take place during the week of September 7th and possibly the following week for all small ensembles at the MS and HS.

Audition at the NAIS:  Music will be given out closer to the middle of September

Due to some issues with commitments with groups last year and for me to be fair with everyone involved, I have made up a contract for those participating in these select groups.  Please think about your schedule before you take the initiative to audition for a group that meets after school.  If you cannot be committed and make the time to be at rehearsals or at performances, then maybe you should reconsider auditioning.  When we are asked to perform for different venues in school and outside of school, it is a real commitment from everyone involved in the group.

String Quartet – rehearsals during class this week for graduation – if you plan on eating at school on Friday before we leave for graduation, make sure you bring in $5 before Friday and give to Mrs. Rocchi.  If you are traveling home with parents and not on the bus, please bring in a note for Friday.

Middle School - 8th graders should practice Somewhere and have it ready for 8th grade night of excellence.  String Ensemble we will rehearse on Friday in Activity Period for Graduation and next week – 8th grade night.   All concert music should be turned in by Friday and all classroom books.

Intermediate School – All concert music should be turned in by Friday, June 4th.  Lessons will take place throughout the week when students are available.  This will be the last week for lessons.  By next Tuesday, all district owned instruments that were loaned out for use should be returned.

Report Cards will be handed out by June 11th along with the summer newsletter of helpful tips for practicing and keeping your skills in place for the summer.

Concert on Thursday, May 6th – report to the HS for 6:00 p.m. Reminder to all students who went on the Broadway Trip – the $6 payment is due by Wednesday this week. Friday, May 7th – Hershey Park Trip and Competition – Be at school for 5:45 a.m. bus leaves at 6 a.m. for Lancaster/Hershey.

High School - Class on Monday and Wednesday this week. Wailing Waters programs on Tuesday May 4th at HS. Concert Rehearsal, Wednesday, May 5th at 3:00 p.m. in the Auditorium. Thursday, May 6th Concert – Report to the HS for 6:00 p.m. Friday, May 7th – Hershey Park Trip – report to MS with all belongings (instruments, etc.) for the day by 5:45 a.m. bus leaves at 6 a.m. Students not going on the trip should report to the music lab to finish story book composition projects.

On Thursday, we will be running through music to get ready for the concert and work on bowings/dynamics.

Performance quizzes for assessments – all dates have been posted in the orchestra room.  Make sure you are prepared.

HS – working on finishing up musical stories and preparing for the upcoming concert.  String Quartet will be working during class part of the week to get the song for the concert up to performance level. Performing music on Friday as a class to prepare for the concert and fix spots in individual songs.

IS – Lessons all week – please check the schedule and orchestra rehearsal on Tuesday after school.

Rehearsals for MS and HS – HS quartet on Wednesday and HS/MS orchestra on Thursday after school from 3-4 p.m.

• Just completed the Spring Flower Fundraiser – orders will be sent into the company and you should be receiving your orders at your door.  This Fundraiser was a success compared to the coupon fundraiser we use to use.
• Upcoming Concert Information – the HS/MS Orchestra concert will be on May 6, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. in the Hs Auditorium
• Concert Information for the Intermediate School  – Advanced Orchestra will be performing at the HS /MS Concert on May 6th  
• Advanced and Regular Orchestras at the Intermediate School will be having a concert on May 27th at the Intermediate School – Concert will begin at 7:00 p.m.
• Upcoming Field Trips  – Phantom of the Opera Trip HS/MS – Saturday April 10th – look for last minute details on April 7th to be handed out.  Students can sign up for chaperone groups now!
• April 16th – HS Orchestra performing at Moravian Hall Square
• April 29th – HS Orchestra performing at Gracedale Nursing Home
• Also, the HS/MS will be taking a field trip on May 7th to PAC Competition in Lancaster and then spending the remaining part of the day in Hersheypark. 
• April 30th – 5 students from the Intermediate School will be traveling to Parkland HS to perform in the PMEA Elementary Orchestra Festival – They were selected out of 15 names submitted to participate in this festival.
