Elementary Assignment for Week of 4/16/07

Beginners

  1. Students are busy working on duets in class to learn about melodies and harmonies
  2. Students are working on the C and E strings on their instruments
  3. Students are working on slurs, dotted half notes, upbeats, and D.C. al Fine.
  4. Concert music – should be practicing Grasshopper Ball, Ode to Joy, Cabbage Countdown, and Boogie in the Straw (Beginning until measure 32).

Intermdiate and Advanced

  1. Students are working on accidentals in their music (naturals and flats) – lowering their fingers for pitches on their instruments.
  2. Students are working on different bowing techniques and rhythms – sixteenth notes, dotted rhythms, etc.
  3. Students should be working on the following concert music – Cabbage Countdown, Grasshopper Ball, Boogie in the Straw and Do-Re-Mi.
  4. Advanced students should be working on their shifting exercises and Suzuki solo pieces.
  5. Rehearsal Reminder Rehearsal on April 17, 2007 is from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Middle School in the Band Room, there are no more after school rehearsals. The remaining rehearsals for the concert are in the evening.
